For 2018, Buick has completely redesigned its midsize crossover, the Enclave. This gives SUV buyers a new, upscale alternative to the regular midsize crossovers, with a roomy interior, high-quality materials, good fuel economy for the class, and an impressive list of features. If you want a three-row crossover that’s a cut above the rest, here is what the new Enclave has to offer.
The Spacious Interior
The new 2018 Enclave has room for seven passengers. The 2017 model had room for eight, but the reason the 2018 model has fewer seats is because the second row now comes standard with bucket seats. This means more room for your passengers, plus the power-folding second-row seats are easy to move forward so you can reach the back row. As for the cargo space, you can get up to 97.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down and the convenience of a standard hands-free power liftgate.
The Four Trims
The 2018 Enclave comes in four separate trims. The base Enclave starts out strong with standard features like keyless locks and 4G WiFi hotspot compatibility, plus the advanced V-6 engine comes on every trim. The Essence offers an upgrade with extras like perforated leather seats and driver assistance features, such as lane change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind spot monitor. The Premium trim offers premium upgrades like a 10-speaker Bose audio system and two rows of heated seats, and the top Avenir trim gives you a unique appearance, wireless charging, and a built-in navigation system.
Smooth Performance
Aside from adding power, the new 3.6-liter engine in the 2018 Buick Enclave boosts its fuel efficiency to 26 highway and 18 city mpg, good numbers for its class. That’s partly thanks to the Enclave’s new nine-speed automatic transmission. The extra gears smooth out the acceleration and make it more efficient at the same time, plus the dual-clutch system means the shifts happen almost instantly. Most of the Enclave’s trims can also come with an intelligent all-wheel drive that moves engine torque between the two axles based on the road conditions.
Safety Features
Road safety is important for every vehicle. That’s why the 2018 Enclave comes standard with a rearview camera and rear parking sensors that warn you when you’re about to bump into something while you’re in reverse. You can also get a Surround Vision Camera that uses four cameras to give you a top-down look at your surroundings. Then there’s the available forward collision alert that warns you about approaching dangers, and with it comes low-speed forward automatic braking and front pedestrian braking, both systems that slow you down if you’re about to run into something.
The new Buick Enclave is one of the best choices around for a midsize crossover SUV, especially if you want an upscale vehicle that doesn’t come with the price of a luxury model. The Enclave offers space, safety, quality, and a smooth, quiet ride. If any of these sound good you should give one a test drive today.
